About Cazadero Cazadero calls itself the "Land of Redwoods and Rain." In the midst of Sonoma County's redwood forest, the closest larger city is Guerneville, about 12 miles away, where most visitors find lodging and restaurants. The town occupies a narrow strip of land in Austin Canyon. Cazadero was originally a hunting resort known as "Ingrams" but the name was changed in 1888.
